Crossovers are one of the hottest vehicles on the road right now. But because they’re so popular, automakers have continued producing countless crossovers, making it difficult to choose which one you’ll buy.

And no two crossovers are the same – there are big differences in quality among different makes and models. To help you decide, these are the J.D. Power award winners for best crossover.

Small SUV: Hyundai Tucson

Starting Price: $23,200

The Hyundai Tucson is one of the hottest crossovers right now, and it’s also surprisingly affordable. The base model is priced at just over $23,000, and even higher trim levels come with price tags under $30,000. No matter which trim level you choose, drivers will love the Tucson’s high-end features, like SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a touchscreen infotainment system, and impressive safety features like a rearview camera.

J.D. Power awarded the Hyundai Tucson the award of one of the best crossovers, and it’s easy to see why. Drivers have plenty of choices, like a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission or a more powerful turbocharged engine with a 7-speed automatic transmission. All Tucson models can be customized with all-wheel drive, additional safety and entertainment features, and added styling.

Compact SUV: Buick Envision

Starting Price: $31,995

Buick has made quite the splash with its newest vehicles, and the Envision is no exception. Even in its most basic form, the Buick Envision delivers strong performance and luxurious comfort for drivers and passengers. As a compact crossover, the Envision offers front-wheel drive along with a strong fuel efficiency that ranges from 22 to 29 miles per gallon. A 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine sits under the hood, and drivers will love safety features like rear park assist, rear vision cameras, and an electronic stability control system.

The Buick Envision is a luxurious little crossover SUV, and that’s partially what makes it one of J.D. Power’s award-winning choices. Inside the Envision, you’ll find plenty of comforts, like 4G LTE Wi-Fi, heated driver and front passenger seats, a hands-free tailgate, and power-adjustable seats that make it easy to perfect your position.

Midsize Premium SUV: BMW X6

Starting Price: $63,550

Luxury doesn’t always mean quality – but when it comes to a solid crossover that’s from a tried and true luxury brand, you’ll want to check out the BMW X6. This crossover is true to its name, combining features from a traditional sedan with the added room and ruggedness of an SUV. The BMW X6 is packed with trademark luxury details, from ambient lighting and remote start to heated from seats and Harman Kardon surround sound. But it’s also a fantastic crossover to drive.

As one of J.D. Power’s award-winning crossover picks, the X6 packs both power and style. With two powerful engine choices – a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder and a V-8, both with TwinTurbo to offer high speed and fast acceleration – and a completely capable all-wheel-drive system that’s standard on every trim level. The X6 hugs the road whether you’re on the highway or more rugged roads, and additional options can be added to make your model more customized.

Midsize SUV Top Quality: Kia Sorento

Starting Price: $26,290

Crossovers tend to be smaller in size than many other SUVs, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice space for a speedier model. The Kia Sorento is a perfect example of this, with an optional third row of seating that can be used to add extra seats or removed to add cargo room. An impressive midsize crossover SUV, the Sorento is perfectly sized to park, maneuver, and handle on roads of all kinds. With seven different trim options to choose from, you can also add features to make this SUV all your own.

Depending on what you’re looking for, the Kia Sorento offers plenty of options. You can opt for a 2.4-liter I-4 engine, a 2-liter turbocharged engine, or a 3.3-liter V-6, giving you just the amount of power you’d like in your Kia crossover. Features like stain-resistant fabric, cruise control, and keyless entry come standard, and upgraded trim levels get you increasingly nice features, like touchscreen displays and added safety features.

Midsize SUV Top Performance: Chevrolet Traverse

Starting Price: $29,930

If you want a crossover that can do it all, J.D. Power’s award rankings recommend the Chevrolet Traverse. This sizable crossover SUV was completely redesigned for the 2018 model year, making it more stylish, more spacious, and upgraded under the hood. Drivers get to choose between two engines, a 3.6-liter V-6 with 310 horsepower and a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 257 horsepower. No matter which you choose, you’ll enjoy a 9-speed automatic transmission that performs smoothly and earns an average fuel rating of 20mpg.

On top of its great road performance, the Traverse also offers a whole host of safety features and luxury details, something that can’t be found in every popular crossover. The Traverse comes with traction mode and Chevy’s StabiliTrak electronic stability control standard, and you can opt for features like brake assist, rear camera, and Teen Driver mode if you’d like. Inside the car cabin, drivers and passengers will love details like Internet access, smart device syncing, OnStar navigation and emergency service, and voice-activated radio, all of which make it feel like one expensive crossover.
