Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year. As Thanksgiving celebrations wrap up on Thursday, Black Friday signals the kickoff of the holiday shopping season. And over the years, Black Friday has turned into a multi-day event with massive promotions, doorbusters, and exclusive deals.

This year, Black Friday falls on November 29. And one of the best places to shop will be right in your own home: Amazon.

Amazon is the go-to retailer for online shopping. In fact, Amazon has changed the entire shopping landscape. And it’s largely due to Amazon that traditional retailers have upped their Black Friday sale events. With Amazon offering special Black Friday deals both in the days leading up to November 29 and all day and night on Friday itself, there’s nowhere better to shop for deep discounts.

Amazon’s Best Deals in 2018

Looking back at last year’s Black Friday, Amazon was poised for success with plenty of compelling deals. In fact, many of Amazon’s sales changed often, even leading up to the big day and over the course of the weekend into Cyber Monday.

But a few big ticket buys in particular attracted shoppers’ attention.

According to Business Insider, some of the biggest deals were for Amazon’s own devices. For example, Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite was on sale for $129.99, a savings of nearly $60. This included six months of Kindle Unlimited for an incredible deal. And Amazon’s popular Echo smart home hub was reduced by $30 for a price of $69.

Outside of its own devices, Amazon was also deeply discount technology in 2018. Black Friday buyers could purchase a Roku Streaming Stick for just $29.99, a $20 discount. For $169, you could get a set of Bose SoundSport Wireless Sport Headphones and save $30 off the normal purchase price. Amazon also had a great deal on Hue smart lights from Philips. The bulb starter kit was just under $80, a discount of $70.

Televisions are always a big draw on Black Friday, and Amazon didn’t disappoint in 2018. For a savings of $400, buyers snapped up 4k Ultra HD Smart LED televisions from Sony. A curved TV from Samsung was on sale with a discount of more than $700. To complement these televisions, smart shoppers were also able to save nearly $300 on Harmon Kardon Onyx Studio Speakers.

Need something beyond tech gadgets? For Black Friday 2018, Amazon offered a Rivet Queen Mattress for $399, which was a savings of $100. The popular Instant Pot was discounted $30, and you could buy a ChefSteps Joule Sous Vide for just $143. Other sales included the iRobot Roomba 960 Vacuum with Wi-Fi for $449 and the Oral-B Pro 5000 SmartSeries Power Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush for just under $80.

These sales were just the start. According to CBS News, Amazon had its biggest shopping days ever over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Amazon said that its biggest sellers during the 2018 event were the Echo Dot, AncestryDNA’s Ethnicity Testing Kit, and Michelle Obama’s recently published memoir.

What to Expect from Amazon in 2019

This coming Black Friday, Amazon will surely be ready to attract shoppers with bigger and better deals than ever before. While most major retailers don’t release their Black Friday ads until closer to Thanksgiving, there’s already plenty of speculation about what to expect this year.

Early report from People expect Amazon to bet big on electronic devices again. It seems likely that Amazon will offer steep discounts on televisions in order to compete with other major retailers. Other hot items are likely to be laptops, phones, and other tech devices

It’s probably worth waiting until Black Friday for your choice of Amazon’s best devices at the lowest prices. Amazon recently released new Echo Buds, the Echo Flex, and even the Amazon Smart Oven. These new releases are likely to get featured on Black Friday, which could make them some of the biggest sellers of the season. According to CNet, even the new Echo Show 8 and the Echo Dot with Clock are likely to get big discounts this year.

In terms of actual prices, right now there is no way to be certain. However, CNet reports that Amazon will probably match its Prime Day sales on Black Friday. By those measures, the popular Echo Show 5 might get as low as $50.

Another good piece of speculation from CNet has to do with other popular technology products. Black Friday might be the perfect day to invest in a new Apple Watch Series 3. Given the popularity of the device, the Apple Watch is likely to be featured in a lot of Black Friday ads. It only makes sense that Amazon would want to snag a piece of the market.
