If you aren’t sure about choosing from the different trim levels and special packages for the 2016 Ford F-150, it helps to know all the options.

The F-150 comes standard with an aluminum body and highly fuel efficient engines without sacrificing payload or towing. You can configure the engine and performance features to suit your needs at nearly every trim level. All new for 2016, the F-150 added the Limited trim option. The F-150 Limited is now the top of class offering, especially for interior trim options. The 2016 F-150 also features the all new, more intuitive Sync 3 infotainment system. This is an addition to its standard entertainment features.

The base model is the XL. The XL features 17 inch steel wheels and automatic headlights. The exterior configuration options are the standard cab with 8′ or 6.5′ beds, or the Supercab and Supercrew cabs with 5.5’or 6.5′ beds. Options available for the XL in terms of interior trim include: power windows, locks and mirrors, as well as keyless entry and cruise control.

The additional exterior trim options for the XL include added chrome, sport appearance packages, and the FX4 package for 4×4 models. You can also get Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist system on the base model.

The next trim level is the XLT, which adds luxury to the hard working F-150. The XLT trim package is equipped with a keypad entry system and rear privacy glass.

Optional upgrades to the XLT include heated mirrors, power seat, power adjustable pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rearview camera and satellite radio.

You can upgrade even more by adding a power sliding rear window, rear parking sensors, LED bed lighting, remote ignition and the Sync 3 infotainment system with 8″ touchscreen and navigation. The XLT also offers high tech safety features, namely blind-spot monitoring and remote vehicle tracking. The XLT Supercab and Supercrew offer a sunroof.

The next trim level is the Lariat. This includes many of the XLT features as standard equipment. It also includes 18-inch wheels, power-folding mirrors, puddle lamps, keyless ignition and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Lariat also offers leather upholstery and cooled front seats.

The Lariat can be upgraded even further for people who want the premium additions, which include LED headlights and taillights, a remote tailgate release, front-facing spotlights, a heated steering wheel and an 11-speaker audio system. Tech upgrades include lane-departure prevention, a surround-view camera system, an automated parallel-parking system and adaptive cruise control.

The King Ranch trim gives you items like an integrated trailer brake controller and heated rear seats. You can tell by the name King Ranch it has a more country feel as well.

The Platinum appeals to those with a more luxurious style. The Platinum trim interior is highlighted by aluminum interior trim. It includes 20-inch wheels and power running boards.

These packages and trim options all work well, adding options to the durability you get from Ford.
