The 2017 Cadillac CTS is giving competitors a run for their money. The midsize sport-luxury sedan combines all the elements that luxury shoppers have come to expect from the brand. Its sharp style is matched only by its cutting edge technology. Similarly, its strong performance is complimented nicely by its sporty handling. The latest crash avoidance features are offered in addition to excellent safety ratings, making it a smart purchase as well as a stylish one.

What’s New?

Cadillac’s exclusive Rear Vision Camera system is making headlines. Drivers can take comfort in streaming high-resolution video in their standard mirror. The wider arc view eliminates the blind zones drivers would typically find on either side.

Performance

If you expect the best fuel economy, the standard CTS engine earns 30 mpg/highway. This turbo-four kicks out 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Driving enthusiasts may want the upgrade to the 3.6-liter V-6 that generates 335 horsepower, for some extra push. If that’s still not enough for you, you can opt for the V-Sport’s 420-horsepower turbo-six.

CTS Base Trim

If your goal is to find a luxury bargain, the base trim balances the best price with true value. The cabin quality is already top notch, and buyers can add a seating package to make it more luxurious. The driver seat is equipped with power seating, rearview camera, push button start, auto-dimming rearview mirror and dual-zone climate control. Safety standards include rear parking sensors, heated side mirrors, and Brembo front brakes. Dash tech includes:

  • CUE eight-inch touchscreen
  • Bluetooth phone and audio
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • HD radio
  • Wireless charger as well as three USB ports
  • Bose 11-speaker surround sound
  • Teen Driver GPS tracking system
  • OnStar Wi-Fi (subscription)

Luxury and V-Sport Trims
You’ll find that the Luxury edition of the new Cadillac CTS hits the sweet spot in terms of cost and value. Leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof welcome you into a cabin with LED ambient lighting, heated/ventilated front seats, and a power-adjusting, power-heated steering wheel. The V-Sport package adds high performance brakes, specially designed tires, adaptive shocks, and a sport-tuned suspension. With the V-Sport trim, you get all of this plus the turbo-six engine. Although the Rear Vision Camera is extra, the standard safety features are still top notch:

  • Cadillac Safety Seats
  • Forward collision alert
  • Lane-keeping assist, lane-change alert, lane departure warning
  • Blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert
  • Adaptive xenon headlights, automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers

Premium Luxury and V-Sport Luxury Trims
The Premium Luxury trim piles on the most advanced features. You won’t miss a thing with the rear-camera mirror functionality and 360-degree camera. You won’t have trouble parking with a truly autonomous self-parking system. Handling and ride quality are improved by an adaptive suspension which responds in milliseconds. Second-row passengers are pampered by a backseat programmable thermostat, heated seats, and a power rear sunshade. For a sportier drive, the V-Sport Luxury edition adds the turbo-six, V-Sport engineering features, and a track mode.

Perhaps the best news for shoppers is that there’s little room for error with so many good choices in the CTS line-up.
